Who found when in NJ?
DraftKings Sportsbook has been the first portable platform to launch on Aug. 1, and it held a monopoly in the marketplace for at least three weeks.
The playMGM sports betting app went on Aug. 22, and also the arrival of SugarHouse Sportsbook a day afterwards brought the running count to three. A week after, both FanDuel Sportsbook and William Hill joined the online sports betting realm.
Caesars added mobile betting on Sept. 6, just at the nick of time for NFL season. The next Monday, 888 Sportsbook appeared at the market. Then came BetStars, incorporating sportsbook performance into its current PokerStarsNJ platform.
Casinos and racetracks are allowed to create as many as three online partnerships apiece — and many are in place — but they must have a tangible sportsbook first. Eight NJ casinos and racetracks have retail sportsbooks right now.
Here is the current picture for both brick-and-mortar sportsbooks and their affiliated online brands:
Resorts Atlantic City and DraftKings Sportsbook
Resorts AC has numerous sports gambling partnerships under its belt. One of these involves DraftKings Sportsbook, that was formally the first to market with a legal online sports gambling site and app.
The DraftKings sports gambling soft-launched on Aug. 1, and the entire launch came on Monday, Aug. 6. The program and browser-based online sportsbook are fully operational, offering a wide variety of traditional and in-game stakes.
In November, DraftKings declared it would function the retail sportsbook interior of Resorts — its first brick-and-mortar implementation.

Resorts and BetStars
Resorts has been the most active of the Atlantic City casinos, clearly the first to use its allotment of three online brands.
Early in August, the casino enlarged its longstanding partnership with The Stars Group to add sports betting. The team has years of experience with Resorts, offering NJ online casino and poker platforms under the PokerStars brand.
BetStars sportsbook launched on Sept. 13. Its iOS app launched Oct. 20.
SBTech, too Resorts also has a new venture with B2B heavyweight SBTech. Under its stewardship, the retail sportsbook opened on property in early August.
Resorts launched its self-branded online/mobile stage in January 2019.
Borgata and playMGM
At the Marina District of Atlantic City, the amazing Borgata launched sports gambling on land on June 14. A little more than two months afterwards, it began offering online wagering via a standalone playMGM sports gambling app. Available just on Android, the iOS version went live Oct. 20.
Borgata is using its current racebook as a temporary, hybrid distance on property, but expansion is on the horizon. Back in December, MGM stated the property would spend $7 million into a brand new standalone sportsbook. Timeline? Uncertain at the moment.
Borgata is owned by MGM, which serves up mobile betting in Nevada through playMGM, as well. The brand is also accessible as a NJ online casino, but the goods are separate for the time being.
Meanwhile, the MGM has formed partnerships with GVC and Boyd Gaming which will lead to additional branded sports gambling apps and websites in numerous countries.
Golden Nugget (and SugarHouse, formerly )
The Golden Nugget has a couple significant partnerships set up, but once again, the implementations aren’t completely clear yet. It will have a land-based sportsbook, though, a permanent space that started just in time for football season.
In May, Churchill Downs announced partnerships with both the Nugget and SBTech, charting its route into New Jersey. Whether this is a turnkey partnership or merely a skin deal (more likely) remains to be seen, and launch isn’t especially imminent — maybe early next year.
The Nugget also had a bargain with Rush Street Gaming, which works the PlaySugarHouse NJ online casino. On Aug. 23, SugarHouse added sports betting to the stage, making it the third to go online. The SugarHouse Sportsbook is available statewide on internet and mobile devices.
Golden Nugget itself operates live and virtual sportsbooks in Las Vegas, so it probably will not need to engage a new provider. It needs to be said, however, that ties into the Houston Rockets will preclude the Nugget from taking bets on NBA games in New Jersey.
In October, SugarHouse switched partners and tasked with Monmouth Park, likely to escape from beneath that NBA restriction.
Monmouth Park and William Hill
Monmouth Park started making programs for sports gambling back in 2013, securing a partnership with William Hill. The William Hill mobile sports gaming program soft-launched on Sept. 2.
Years after their first union, the property opened the nation’s first sportsbook and published the first legal ticket on June 14. The governor was on site to christen the NJ sports gambling industry and bet on the World Cup.
The partnership figures to work well for Monmouth Park’s jobs in the digital realm. Based in the united kingdom and with a US arm set up, William Hill is richly equipped with resources, and its US team currently works a Nevada sports gaming program. There’s no reason to expect anything else in New Jersey.
Monmouth Park and William Hill launched mobile sports betting last fall.
As mentioned previously, SugarHouse combined the Monmouth Park household in October as a license spouse.
Meadowlands Racetrack and FanDuel Sportsbook
If you were able to select a spot to construct an NJ sportsbook, you may select Meadowlands Racetrack.
The property lives from the slopes of MetLife Stadium, home to the New York Giants and Jets. Owning a sportsbook close to the border is coveted at this time and NJ captures lots of New York traffic. Anticipate fandom and geography to drive busloads of visiting visitors this year.
Like its competitors in Oceanport, Meadowlands is putting together an ambitious program for sport betting. It entered into a long-term venture with Betfair US, the national arm of Paddy Power Betfair.
Meanwhile, PPB acquired daily fantasy sports manufacturer FanDuel to serve as the face of its US products. The FanDuel Sportsbook at the Meadowlands Racetrack started on July 14.
Much like the retail performance, the online/mobile system is branded as a FanDuel Sportsbook. The product launched on Sept. 1.
Australian firm PointsBet arrived at the USA in late 2018 with a different kind of sports betting product. PointsBet partnered with Meadowlands Racetrack to function under its license as among its three accessible skins.
PointsBet does provide conventional sports gambling, but makes its name on a product that allows bettors to win or lose large on each bet.
Ocean Resort Casino
Down to the Boardwalk, the new Ocean Resort Casino is another place you can bet at the moment.
When Bruce Deifik bought the land in Januaryhe said he wanted it to be the”best in market” for sports betting. Even though the ORC is brand new, it appears like Deifik is operating to make good on these programs.
The physical sportsbook opened for business in the center of the casino floor on June 28, occupying the large footprint of the former nightclub.
Sportsbook operations for ORC are also powered (and branded) from William Hill US. Mobile sports gambling is accessible through Ocean too.
Hard Rock Atlantic City
A title change and a renovation have turned into the old Trump Taj Mahal to the gorgeous brand new Hard Rock AC property only a few strides down the Boardwalk. The hotel started its retail and portable sports gambling performance in January 2019.
At the grand opening in June, Chairman Jim Allen verified Hard Rock would be in the company of sports gambling. We also learned that provider is subject to a additional restrictions because of its relationship with the NFL and the Miami Dolphins. Hard Rock won’t be able to”set the bet” as Allen put it, requiring a third party to deal with the action.
In July, a new partnership involving HRAC and Bet365 surfaced in documents filed with the DGE. Bet365 is an enormous outfit based out of England, and Hard Rock provides its entry point into the US marketplace. You’ll see its cellular program hit the virtual shelves in the appointed time, whenever the time might come.
Hard Stone also struck a partnership with Kindred Group — best known for its Unibet brand. Both deals are pure branding prices, however, so neither supplied insight into Hard Rock’s own plans.
In October, Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) announced it signed a letter of intent to electricity those Hard Rock platforms. The alliance covers both retail sports betting on land in addition to online/mobile channels.
Caesars, Bally’s, Harrah’s
Caesars has started brick-and-mortar sportsbooks at Bally’s and Harrah’s, the former also serving its eponymous casino on the Boardwalk. As it formed a new venture with Scientific Games, Caesars declared that mobile/online betting would accompany”quickly.”
About a month after, it delivered. Caesars additional sportsbook functionality to its present NJ online casino program on Sept. 6, only hours prior to NFL kickoff.
Under Caesars’ casino permit, the mobile 888 Sportsbook went live the following Monday. The 888 iOS program went live on Oct. 20.
Apart from Freehold Raceway, that leaves Tropicana as the only other land we haven’t mentioned.
Eldorado Resorts runs the gambling operations, and it recently entered into a partnership with William Hill for operations. The on-site sportsbook started in October.
