IAN MCCALL TALKS LATEST INJURY WHICH FORCED HIM OFF UFC FIGHT NIGHT 73

Ian McCall was slated to combat Dustin Ortiz at UFC Fight Night 73 but sadly had to pull out due to injury. McCall (13-5) caught up with MMAOddsBreaker on Episode 115 of The Parting Shot Podcast that Sunday to talk about his most recent injury. Injury that compelled him out of Dustin Ortiz fight at UFC Fight Night 73″I have a tear in my shoulder, in my labrum and a tear from my bicep. I mean I’m literally at the physicians now talking about it. It’s what it is, we train hard and I am fragile apparently. I must pull out of a good deal of s**t. It stinks, but if you train as hard as I do and you’ve been doing so as long as I do, its part of the game» Career Plagued with Injuries»My UFC career has been just been plagued with injuries and it is frustrating. This is my main source of income, I have other things I do but that is my main source. I have a little girl to feed, that I feed on my own and it sucks. However, on a different note, this is my enthusiasm; this is what I really like to do. I am 31 years old, I’m not getting younger I’ve already been in struggles for 13 years. To see my body fail me time and time again it’s hard. It’s one of those things it makes you wonder a lot. I am such a healthy individual, my loved ones is like incredibly healthy, and you know my kid really needs a really strict diet. I have had my hip, groin tear, that can be bad. I’m sure I’ll need to get a hip replacement . I have had three hand surgeries. I got into a car accident not long ago and messed up my shoulder. It is always something, but it’s better than having an actual job.» Getting Positive and Optimistic»A lot of my life I have been a pessimist to be honest. I look at it in various ways, it could be worse, I could be dead. I could have lost full use of my arm or anything. There are a whole lot of things I consider. I have to keep a positive attitude because I must be a good role model for team-mates along with my child. It is one of those things I’m not going to sit around and sulk. That’s what it is, I’ll be al right.» Thoughts on Demetrious Johnson vs. John Dodson II at UFC 191″Demetrious is evolving and I believe that now he has found a bit more power in his punches. His entire game is always changing and becoming better. I think he’ll conquer Dodson, is he likely to complete [him]? I don’t understand. I think this is one man he’ll have difficulty finishing. He finished Horoguchi with one second left, and as far as I want to beat his face in, he’s outstanding. He is the precise guy you want as champion in regards to performance. I’m likely to go with him on this one for certain.» Reduction to John Lineker»Oh man that has been enormous. I got too emotional; I showed the very first round I could definitely overcome him. People were just like’Oh he is a bantamweight’ I do not care; the man still isn’t very good I should have overcome him. I think I showed that you’re not likely to knock me out even though you’re a big puncher. My face will split open before you knock me out and that’s precisely what occurred. With me it’s outside matters, they constantly distract me, girl problems or what have you. I just kind of fell apart after that first round. I am smart enough to understand that I was going to drop that struggle sitting . Anthony Kiedis and Dane White came about and said hello and I’m just kind of love, I am screwed. This was a psychological thing, that’s always been my main downfall. I have a brand new mental coach, he’s my mind Sherpa. He is overall made me a much better person. As far as my optimism goes, he is a large part of it.» Feeling Overlooked at Flyweight Division»I wouldn’t say overlooked, there’s other folks to talk about. I blew it with John; I screwed up in this struggle. So maybe I don’t deserve to be talked about it. Let’s state this harm is just 6 months, they’ll talk about me after that, that is fine. There are other people that deserve it. It does matter how good I can be or how great I am, it is not my turn. DJ needs individuals to fight, the branch needs people to move and shake and create a big jolt. I do not mind it, it is cool, anything.» Raising a daughter as one dad»Yeah it is not easy; realistically I do not know anything about girls. I know how to get one in bed that’s about it. I sit there sometimes and stare at her like’what is going on?’ Don’t cut your hair, do not put soap in places, like I do not understand. Realistically I’ve a lot aid, I live with my father. My dad got a divorce, he explained move in, and I will assist you. My dad’s retired so he sort of plays mommy on a daily basis. My step mom is still about; my kid’s grandma is around so I do have a great deal of help. So I am not going to say I’m doing this alone, because I am not. It takes a village to raise a kid and I received a village of people around me. Even if there are times where I must take her to the gym, there is always some one there. She’s pretty damn independent I will take her to the beach; she can run about and swim on her own. She’s going to be fine.» UFC Reebok Uniforms»I used to work for a fashion design company; the sole fighters I hang out with are people I’m forced to hang out with or my buddies. I hang out with artists, fashion designers and musicians and materials. They’re hideous, such as Jose Aldo stated we look like f***kin Power Rangers. The gear is actually comfortable; clearly Reebok creates a fantastic product. I don’t know who left the design, regardless of what generation we are in 80’s 90’s, that does not fit anything, it is just awful. But perhaps I am wrong; maybe I’m searching for something a little cooler looking. Its performance based equipment; that’s all that matters. It is an evolution of the sport. We needed it to shine, sure we are not likely to have paid that much money but it’s what it is. In case you’ve got a problem then stop, these are the numbers we must manage. If you are smart and you can market yourself and advertise yourself in manners like I’ve. I have external sponsors; I’ve Layrite, that is similar to a hair and mustache product. I’ve got a lot of clothing and lifestyle companies. I get a good deal of exposure from stuff like this. People need to know to step away from the box, make money for themselves and also have a smart agent.» Ideas on Reebok Deal»Yeah that would have been fine, but at exactly the exact same time they run a business. They run a multi-billion dollar company that’s a premiere sports league. If you see the machine that is the UFC, in the inside it is outstanding. The people are excellent; the business layout is simply amazing. I wouldn’t ever say anything bad about how it’s all run, it’s amazing if you enjoy company. The thing is they didn’t have to consult us since it’s their business. We are a commodity; as far as I want to say trendy we ought to be earning money such as baseball, football and basketball. Because we should we are actually putting our lives on the line. But we’re not and I do not want to estimate Urijah Faber, he said’I never got into this for the money’ frankly I catch it, I’m a businessman.» Outside sponsors»Financially I am going to be fine. I’m always going to find ways [to earn money]. I have part of a social networking company, I have a show I host called Direct Endorsement, and it is a significant charity thing. I have other things that’s going to make me money, so I’m going to be fine. I do believe for men that don’t have much else or guys that aren’t that smart. But that is their own fault, figure out it it’s not rocket science» Being on Joe Rogan’s»Fight Companion» series»Yeah I was speaking to Joe not too long ago. I’ve a developing friendship with Joe for quite a while, we constantly talk about it but it is a tiny bit of a drive from my house with all the visitors. I will be up there soon, I must do some stuff in the area so that I’ll be on there shortly.» You follow Ian on Twitter @Unclecreepymma and his host DirectEndorcements.com.
